My Life Stood Still

Grief and trauma can make the world feel like it’s come to a standstill.
After losing Jack, my world did just that, it stood still and the only way I knew how to survive was to self-isolate and withdraw from life.
Grief can make us feel so alone and isolated, even in a room full of friends and family. Many people care and want to support us through life’s difficult moments, yet they don’t fully understand the intense pain and trauma we are experiencing…… they can only imagine..
Over time (a long time if I’m being perfectly honest) I slowly started to integrate myself back into the life of the living. Friends have come and gone, (that’s a post for another day) and I’m ok with that.
It’s through connecting with other families I have learnt how common it is for people to withdraw from everyday life after the traumatic loss of a loved one.
If you are experiencing this, you’re not alone. Grief is hard, it’s indescribable and it changes every aspect of your life.
Take it one day at a time and be gentle with yourself.
Grief is a journey we don’t have to walk alone.
