Alcohol and Young People – Donnybrook Football Club

Tonight, I was a guest speaker at Donnybrook Football Club’s event Alcohol and Young People, alongside District Superintendent Geoff Stewart and former AFL player Ben Howlett.
The focus of this event was on alcohol and reducing the chance of harm in our youth.
Sharing my journey of road trauma is always difficult. Reliving the night Jack was killed and the days that follow is gut wrenching. The words are always hard to swallow, and the emotions are so overwhelming but if sharing Jack’s story can prevent one family from having to walk through our doors at Heart Hub South West, my tears and the pain I relive are worth it.
It was very humbling to hear the kind words from District Superintendent Geoff Stewart and to see the presence of so many Police Officers from the South West, Donnybrook first responders. I cannot speak highly enough of them all. They all do an incredible job, a job that comes with so many rewards and yet is so heartbreaking at the same time.
Thank you to Shane Bolton, Peter Worsfold, Club President Peter Hearman, Luisa Dale for the empathy and support that was given to me during the lead up to the event and on the night. Your support made it a little easier and I cannot commend you enough for this incredible initiative.
The respect, support and empathy shown by the members of your Football Club is a credit to you.
Together we can make a difference.
